How To Put Your Sling On

This is how to put your sling on. We also have a video that you can view here and above Putting sling On Movie Clip. Your sling can be worn on either shoulder. Whichever way you feel most comfortable.

Over your Arm.

Over your Head.

On to your Shoulder Cap. Make sure rings are sitting just in the hollow of your shoulder cap.

Find your front rail and your back rail.

Now put your hand into the pouch to fully open the pocket.

Now you can adjust the pocket to you with the sides of the tail. The back rail should fit you nicely like a tee shirt. The front should be looser.

Newborn Carry with Receiving Blanket 0 - 3M

This is how to put your newborn baby into the sling in a reclined position. Newborn hold Movie Clip. This is also a movie to see how to use a receiving blanket with the sling. This is a method we highly recommend with newborn babies (as you will see in the pictures below). We recommend the receiving blanket because it will keep your newborn in a proper position while in the sling. Newborn in blanket Movie Clip

To start. Always support baby's weight while adjusting fabric through the rings. While placing your baby in the sling make sure to be swaying. You want to simulate the womb. The swaying motion bring comfort to baby.

Place receiving blanket
over baby.

Bring baby down in a cradle hold (in arms. Bring baby's knees up so the bum will go into the pocket firsts.

Bring the pocket around baby's bum.

Let baby's bum fall naturally into the pocket.
Hold the front of the pocket and gently bounce baby down into the pocket.

Pull the receiving blanket out and over
the sling edge to keep the pocket open.

This is how the sling should look across your back. Nicely spread flat with no twisting.

This is your final result! The rings should still be sitting in the hollow of your shoulder cap so baby's head will not come in contact with the rings.

Breastfeeding in the Sling

This is how to breast feed in a sling we also have a video here Breastfeeding Movie Clip #1, Breastfeeding Movie Clip #2

Simply lower the pocket to the breast. Make sure to be supporting baby's weight while lowering and raising baby in the sling.

To come to the second breast just swing the baby over to the other breast (like a "football" hold).

Kangaroo Carry 3m - Up

This is how to wear baby facing out.

Bring baby's feet up into a cross legged position. While placing your baby in the sling always make sure to be swaying. You want to simulate the womb. Also support baby's weight while adjusting the slings fabric.

Let baby fall into the pocket naturally (bum first, while supporting them). Bounce baby lightly into the pocket and make sure your back rail is up around baby.

Once baby is in the pocket adjust the front rail as needed. Support baby's weight while adjust fabric through the rings.

This is your final result. Please make sure to keep your hand on baby at all times in this position. Baby will not be as secure in this position.

Tummy to Tummy Carry 3m - 14m

This is how to put your newborn baby into the sling in the Tummy to Tummy position.

To start. Legs usually stay in the pocket of the sling for young baby's, this will ensure maximum comfort for baby. Support baby's weight while adjusting the slings fabric through the rings. While placing your baby in the sling make sure to be swaying. You want to simulate the womb.

Put baby on hip and put baby's first leg into the pocket of the sling.

Put baby's back leg into the sling.

Bring the pocket fabric up baby's back for full support.

Now tighten the top rail to make sure the baby is nice and close to your body. Support baby's weight while adjusting fabric through the rings.

And this is your final result.

Hip Hold 6m - Up

This is how to put your baby into the sling in the Hip Hold position.

To start. Keep the pocket of the sling the same as you would wear your baby in the Tummy to Tummy position (pocket very slightly looser than the fitted Newborn Carry). The back of the pocket does not need to be adjusted. This will make sure that baby will have proper positioning in the pocket of the sling ("Frog Position").

Put baby's legs through both sides of the pocket of the sling.

Make sure the fabric is all the way under baby's bum and up to the back the the baby's knees. Make sure to spread the fabric all the way up the baby's back. Remember to suport baby's weight while adjusting fabric through the rings.

Purple Desire Baby Sling

This is your end results.

Back Carry 14m - Up

This is how to put your Toddler in the sling on your back.

Start with your toddler in the hip hold position. Make sure you start with the ring VERY high on the should to end up with proper placement.

Gently swing baby onto your back back, like so.

This is what you should look like from behind (but with a toddler). Make sure the outer rail is pulled in so baby in close to your back. *Remember to support baby's weight while adjusting fabric through the rings.

Now simply tuck the tall away.

This the look from the front.

Safety Tips and Do's and Don'ts

"Frog Position"
Always make sure that baby's bum is LOWER than baby's knees. This will provide baby with the maximum comfort.

This is the PROPER alignment of baby in the sling. Make sure baby has nice alignment in the sling. To do this make sure baby's chin is not pressed firmly into their chest. This will naturally happen to a small degree but watch for signed of HEAVY breathing, grunting, and a general discomfort.

This is the WRONG positioning because baby is to far forward. A baby in this alignment will have reduced oxygen flow which is unsafe.

This is where the sling SHOULD be positioned on your shoulder.

This is the WRONG positioning of the sling on the shoulder.

Do's Don'ts

Do make sure baby is all the way in the pocket of the sling. Walking around the room while lightly bouncing baby down into the pocket is very effective.

DON'T have baby in the pocket to "squished up" (chin to the chest). Instead place baby in a more up right position. For newborns, using a receiving blanket works very well to give baby good alignment. Please see above instructions for further instruction and movie clips on how to use this method.

DO hold your baby when you bend over. If you don't, your baby could fall out.

DON'T cook or barbeque while your baby is in the sling. Remember that babies have a far reach.

DO remember to use caution when you walk around corners and bend over your washing machine.

DON'T leave your sling near an open fire.

DO remember to look out for other people. Most of the time others don't realize you are wearing a baby, so heads up!

DON'T wear your baby in the sling while doing aerobic exercise.

DO check your sling regularly to make sure it's in tact (no rips or cuts)

.

DON'T use your Bundles sling in place of a car seat.

DO always bend at the knees when wearing baby.

DON'T wear your baby in your sling while riding a bicycle.

DO hang your sling to dry. (If you put it in the dryer it may shrink.)

DON'T force an older baby into the sling if baby is squirming.

Last but not least.. remember to always listen to your intuition. You know best!
